The Solar Power Portal Awards will return for its sixth year in 2018 with an expanded set of categories, including several new ones. The evening will once again be host to up to 600 clean energy professionals from the UK and beyond, with 14 prizes up for grabs at a glittering gala dinner ceremony. For the first time this year’s Awards will give energy storage equal footing, with Solar Power Portal sharing the stage with sister publication Energy-Storage.News.
The Awards will also continue to coincide with Solar Media’a Solar & Storage Live exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC.
Nominations for the Solar Power Portal and Energy-Storage.News Awards open on 22 January 2018. Nominations will close at midnight on 31 May 2018. To nominate, simply click the ‘Nominate’ tab at the top of the page.
The evening starts at 7pm with a pre-awards drinks reception for which each attendee is invited to. Dinner will then be called, starting at 8:15pm. The awards ceremony will start at 10pm, following which evening entertainment will commence. The bar will remain open until 1am.
Our host for the evening will be architect and TV presenter George Clarke.

George Clarke is an architect, TV presenter and Creative Director of architectural practice George Clarke + Partners. He has set up an independent television production company, Amazing Productions, to focus on factual programming for all the main UK broadcasters. George also enjoys lecturing and is passionate about the way architecture can transform our everyday lives; his aim is to make architecture popular and accessible to everyone. George is an ambassador for Shelter, The Maggie Centre’s, The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community and City & Country Group. George is also patron of Knights Youth Centre, the Civic Trust Awards and passionate supporter of Sunderland Football Club - so much so that he is a Trustee of The Foundation of Light. Most recently George is a founding trustee of the Ministry Of Building Innovation & Education (MOBIE) a charity that is working to address the skills shortage in the house building industry.
